What is Google Search Console?

Google Search Console is a free tool from Google that reports how a website performs in Google Search, including impressions, clicks, indexing status, and errors that block pages from appearing. Site owners and SEO providers use it to check and fix search visibility.

Google Search Console is a free service from Google that shows how a website is seen by Google Search. You verify ownership of a domain or URL prefix, and the tool then reports how often your pages appear in results (impressions), how often people click through (clicks), average position, and which search queries drove that traffic.

The tool also covers the technical side. The indexing report lists which URLs Google has added to its index and which it has excluded, along with the reason, such as a noindex tag, a redirect, or a page that was crawled but not indexed. Coverage and crawl errors, sitemap submission status, mobile usability problems, and Core Web Vitals data all appear in the same dashboard.

It matters because Google Search Console is the only source of first-party search data straight from Google. Analytics tools show what visitors do after they land on a site, but they cannot tell you why a page is missing from results or which queries are triggering impressions. For businesses in Malaysia targeting searchers in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, or across Bahasa Malaysia and English queries, the performance report helps confirm which keywords and regions are actually bringing traffic.

Many SEO agencies in Malaysia set up and monitor Search Console as part of their routine work, especially for site migrations, indexing problems, or technical audits. If you are looking for help with those issues, you can browse technical SEO providers in the directory.

The tool does not guarantee rankings or fix problems on its own. It reports what Google sees, and someone still has to act on the findings.
